A Very Bad Week

I'm using today's post to update the week of the Jan. 10th.  It was an incredibly bad week.  They laid of 6 people at work.  Two of those folks I worked with directly, so this only adds more to my already full plate.  Thankfully, I didn't have to go into work for two days that week.  Things have calmed somewhat and it looks like the organization will be ok.  We shall see, they sang that same optimistic tune before the layoffs (which came out of the blue).  Well, I suppose it could be worse.  Fortunately, the job market is a wee bit better.  So here are my outfits for the remainder of that awful week.  I will post last weeks outfits tomorrow.

Adventures in Organic Cooking

Well it is a new year and a new decade and I decided it was time to begin the year right by doing some good old fashioned cooking (given the dearth of this activity since Jan. 1). I am especially pleased with the antioxidant salad concoction that I just finished making (I did work from home today afterall, I can certainly spend half an hour making lunch for tomorrow). I came upon this recipe by asking myself: "self, with the limited ingredients available (we just had a snowstorm, I am not going to the grocery store), what combination would be both edible and nutritionally balanced?" The answer, as it turns out, are the following ingredients: red cabbage, carrots, apples, sea weed, pomegranate seeds, freshly gound black pepper, and sauteed tempeh (in coconut oil). Now you might ask, after reading this ingredient list, "Sunduri, the antioxidant power of your salad sounds superb, but how does it taste?"  My answer is this: If you are a meat lover, this may not be the dish for you. If you are a vegan or vegetarian, you might want to consider it. If you are on a diet, well, no one should be on diets, since they don't work. If you are a health food nut, you may find this to be right up your alley. (I also doused the entire thing in copious amounts of olive and walnut oil as insurance.) The real answer will be determined tomorrow. Now, if you have been reading my entries for the last few months you are aware of my new found obsession with organic food.  So, yes, with the exception of the walnut oil (an ingredient that is very difficult to find organic as it turns out), pomegranate seeds, and the crushed pepper, all ingredients are organic.  With that, here are some pics of the lovely snowstorm that just passed the northeast.  Last night was magical, simply magical.

Deadline Week

Well, this is the week of deadlines.  I think I am in good shape to meet all of them (that is one of my resolutions), but we shall see.  We are due to have another snow storm tomorrow and Wednesday.  As a result I will be working from home.  Something I enjoy doing on occasion as it gives me a break from the commute.  I am going to keep this post short today since I went to bed very late last night and am a bit worn out.  On Friday, I wore jeans and a plain top, I was feeling the casual vibe.  Today, I tried to start the week off on a good note with this number:  The top is Eddie Bauer, the skirt is Due Pue Due, and the shoes are Ralph Lauren.  I like the color combo for today's outfit.

Professional Followed by Whimsical

I had a lovely day today.  Yesterday I had a client meeting and got home very late.  I accidently forgot my keys in the office and that started a chain of events that resulted me getting home very late.  By contrast, today was calm and uneventful.  I welcome days like this, since so much of my time at work seems to be working in an environment filled with chaos.  I have been a little blue lately.  Perhaps it is the cold I have that is taking awhile to subside, or perhaps it is the shorter days.  I'm not quite sure.  It is a new year and a new century, so I am trying to stay optimistic.  Yesterday, I wore a suit for the client meeting I attended.  The jacket and belt are from a Calven Klein suit and the pants are from Mandee.  I did cheat here b/c the pants are a new purchase.  My weight loss has really been putting me in a bind in the pants department.  None of my pants fit anymore, they are all very big.  I obviously could not attend a client meeting in ill fitted clothing.  You may have noticed that I have been wearing dresses alot.  This is a main reason for that.  Today I wore a strapless dress made by Lapis with a whimsical shirt underneath (from Target).  After such formal attire yesterday, it is nice to wear something that is a little bit more playful.  I enjoy the fairytale look this dress has.  It makes me feel that the world still holds possibility.

Pretty, Pretty Velvet

Today was another beautiful day.  It was sunny and once again no wind.  If the weather continues in this vein, this will be a very nice season.  So far work is going smoothly without any craziness.  I know this will be short lived, so I am enjoying it while it lasts.  I have a client meeting tomorrow and am going to have to cheat.  I currently own very few pants that still fit (this is b/c of all the weight I have lost recently).  As a result I will have to wear some new pants I bought the other day.  This is a client meeting though, so I can't go in ill fitted clothes.  This also explains why I have been wearing nothing but skirts recently.  With that here is my outfit.  My outfit today is all velvet.  I think it is more elegant than what I wore yesterday.  The skirt is one of my favorites and is Carole little.  I love the design in the front.  The top is Jodon and the shoes are from Sears.

A New Year, A New Century

Happy new year everyone!  It was an absolutely beautiful day today, the sun was out, the air was crisp, and it was not windy.  What a great way to start a new year and a new century.  I have been sick all week and am currently on the mend.  Last week's combination of the office being closed, being sick, and a snowstorm pretty much left me home bound.  Despite all that, it was a nice break.  I am looking forward to the year and century.  Well with that here are my pictures for today.  The first is the last outfit I wore in 2010 to the office.  The second is a blue dress the hubs bought over the holidays for me (I know it's new, but it was a gift, so I'm bending the rules on this one.  No, I did not ask him to buy it). The pink and plumb combo is what I wore to the office today.  It may not be the best option for the new year, but I went to bed late chatting with a friend from my tween days (the internet is an incredible thing), which left me 10 minutes this morning to figure out what I was going to wear.  Tomorrow will be a more inspired day, or at least I'll put forth a more valient effort.
