A Very Bad Week

I'm using today's post to update the week of the Jan. 10th.  It was an incredibly bad week.  They laid of 6 people at work.  Two of those folks I worked with directly, so this only adds more to my already full plate.  Thankfully, I didn't have to go into work for two days that week.  Things have calmed somewhat and it looks like the organization will be ok.  We shall see, they sang that same optimistic tune before the layoffs (which came out of the blue).  Well, I suppose it could be worse.  Fortunately, the job market is a wee bit better.  So here are my outfits for the remainder of that awful week.  I will post last weeks outfits tomorrow.

Deadline Week

Well, this is the week of deadlines.  I think I am in good shape to meet all of them (that is one of my resolutions), but we shall see.  We are due to have another snow storm tomorrow and Wednesday.  As a result I will be working from home.  Something I enjoy doing on occasion as it gives me a break from the commute.  I am going to keep this post short today since I went to bed very late last night and am a bit worn out.  On Friday, I wore jeans and a plain top, I was feeling the casual vibe.  Today, I tried to start the week off on a good note with this number:  The top is Eddie Bauer, the skirt is Due Pue Due, and the shoes are Ralph Lauren.  I like the color combo for today's outfit.

A New Year, A New Century

Happy new year everyone!  It was an absolutely beautiful day today, the sun was out, the air was crisp, and it was not windy.  What a great way to start a new year and a new century.  I have been sick all week and am currently on the mend.  Last week's combination of the office being closed, being sick, and a snowstorm pretty much left me home bound.  Despite all that, it was a nice break.  I am looking forward to the year and century.  Well with that here are my pictures for today.  The first is the last outfit I wore in 2010 to the office.  The second is a blue dress the hubs bought over the holidays for me (I know it's new, but it was a gift, so I'm bending the rules on this one.  No, I did not ask him to buy it). The pink and plumb combo is what I wore to the office today.  It may not be the best option for the new year, but I went to bed late chatting with a friend from my tween days (the internet is an incredible thing), which left me 10 minutes this morning to figure out what I was going to wear.  Tomorrow will be a more inspired day, or at least I'll put forth a more valient effort.

Christmas Week

I have been tired this week so my posts have been on the scant side.  Here is what I have worn so far this week.  Monday and Tuesday's outfits are remixed from suits that I have.  Today's is not really inspired by anything, just hastily put together since I was in a rush this morning.

A Social Weekend

This was a lovely weekend.  On Saturday we went out with friends for some karaoke and today I spent a couple of hours hanging out with a dear friend.  I always forget how important this type of thing when I am in the thick of things.  Sometimes we need to take some time to simply reflect.  I am looking forward to this week as it will be the last week the office will be open for the year (yay!).  Then I get some much needed R&R before the new year rolls around.  So without further ado, here is the outfit I wore on Saturday: the top is Moda, the skirt is June (thrifted), and the boots are Ralph Lauren.

Pink!

I felt a little more inspired today and decided to mix and match some of my suits.  The skirt is from a suit that is all pink and it was so cute I bought it.  I didn't fit into it at the time I bought it, so now that I am thinner I can wear it.  The jacket is from a suit I bought years ago and rarely wear.  The top is one I had and is lace (I love lace).  The boots are Ralph Lauren and the tights are Charlotte Russe.

It's Hot Cocoa Season :)

Well the temperatures just keep dropping.  This leaves me wanting to come home, get under the covers, and veg out.  Not exactly productive.  I did make dinner today though, in a half hearted effort to try to win the battle against lethargy.  Thus far, the lethargy seems to be winning.  Work is hectic as usual.  Although the craziness seems to be more muted this week, which I am grateful for.  I did not feel all that inspired today.  My outfit is as follows: the top is a gift, the skirt is from Express, and the boots are Michael Kors.  I will try to do better with tomorrow's fashion choice.

Back from Vacay

Technically I came back on the 26th of November, but I haven't gotten around to posting anything until.  I will post pictures of last week's photo's sometime this week as well.  Vacation was awesome.  I have to say that the relationship between parent and child changes once one is an adult, as I discovered with my mother.  We were able to have frank and candid conversations that really brought us together.  For the most part everything went pretty smoothly.  It did rain half the time, which was not to much fun.  However, we were unfased by mother nature and soldiered on.  All together we visted 6 cities: Rome, Vatican City, Venice, Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid.  It was a power vacation of sorts.  Each city was unique and beautiful in it's own way.  As this was my mother's first time to Europe, she had a lovely time.  I would recommend every adult child travel with a parent at some point in their life.  It is a terrific to really discover your parent in new and suprising ways.  I will post pictures of my vacation in another post.  Here is my outfit for today: the skirt is Ann Klien (thrifted), the cardigan is Eddie Baur, the top is from Target, and the shoes are Michael Kors.

Off to my European Adventure - (Week 8)

This week has been very crazy so I have not been able to post anything.  I am off to my trip today.  Before I went I thought I would share my uninspired outfits for the week.  I will be back on on Thanksgiving day.  So here are my outfits for the week.

Sweater Time - Day 51

This week started off crazy, but has calmed down.  As my trip nears I can feel the excitement starting to build.  I still have to buy the hotel stuff.  The internet world has made travel much easier to plan for and execute.  Anyway, it is late, so I will have to make this short.  As an aside, I will put this project on hiatus while on my trip to Europe.  I am only taking a backpack, so I will only be taking the bare essentials.  Finally, here is my outfit for today:  the sweater is j.crew (thrifted), the shirt is from Target, the pants are BCBG, and the boots are Ralph Lauren.

Almost Friday - Day 38

Well it is almost Friday.  Yay!  I am working from home tomorrow (I have to get a dress fitted for a wedding I am going to) so that will be a nice break from my daily commute.    My adventure to Europe is also fast approaching, another exciting thing to look forward to.  I love formal events, so I can't wait for this wedding, it should be lovely.  I haven't been to very many weddings and with none of my single friends having plans to marry any time soon (this would be most of my friend circle), any opportunity is always welcome.  I love weddings of all types.  It is fascinating to me how no matter what religion or culture one is from, there seems to be a universal theme to marriage when it comes time for the rituals.  It is the ritual after all that makes any wedding unique and special.  I suppose I am a bit nostalgic since my own wedding was so many years ago.  I guess there is the vows renewal thing that we could do down the line.  Anyway, here is my outfit for today:  The shirt is Kate Scott, the skirt is Ann Taylor (thrifted), the sweater is Nicole Miller, and the shoes are Steve Madden.

Time for Velvet - Day 36

The overcast weather really brought the fall color to life today, making the drive to work pleasant for the eyes. I wore my favorite boots today.  They are velvet with embroidery, possible two of my favorite things when it comes to apparel.  I try not to wear these to much, since I would have difficulty replacing them if they wear out.  I have work to do after this post as well as prepare dinner for tomorrow.  It appears it will be a long night.  Anyway, here is my outfit for today: the sweater is J. Crew (thrifted), the skirt is continental, I don't remember where I bought the shoes.

It Finally Feels Like Fall - Day 29

Well I got home at a decent time today (the sun was still out when I left work).  This week is quickly shaping up to be one full of chaos.  On a happier note, the fall color is in full swing now.  The drive both to work and back is just a feast for the eyes.  It was especially magical this morning since there was just a hint of fog in the distance.  I pass several horse farms on my way to work, so by the time I get to work my mood is already brightened all the pretty things I see on the way there.  On a domestic note, I feel inspired to cook tonight, so after my relaxing I think I will make two dishes instead of one.  Hopefully, both will turn out to be edible.  My outfit for today is one of my favorite everyday dresses.  If you haven't noticed by now, I am petite person with a short stature.  This is a challenging body shape to have when one shops for clothing in general, and dresses in particular.  So imagine my delight when I tried on this dress and it actually fit correctly!  So without further ado here is what I wore today:  the dress is Nine West and the shoes are Michael Kohrs.

Hooray for Stripes - Day 16

Today was another ordinary day.  I have figured out how to use the tripod to take pictures so the hubs is off the hook.  I have not always been a fan of stripes, but as I have gotten older I have found a new appreciation for them.  I decided to continue the boots theme, so I am wearing boots today with my outfit as well.  This is another clothing item I now fit into well.  I feel like I can go shopping in my closet now for outfits, since I fit into more stuff.  I don't remember where I got the dress but it is fairly old.  The tights are Anne Klein (from DSW) and I got the shoes at Burlington Coat Factory.

Week 2 - Day 15

Well it is finally boots season.  I love boots.  My husband says I look silly in them since I am so short (I vehemently disagree).  I got into a minor fendor bendor this morning (I stopped at a yellow light and the person behind me ran into me).  That put a damper on the day.  Add to that the dreary weather.  Regardless, I have resolved to not let it upset me.  The accident could have been worse, and the rain could be coming down harder.  Besides, this is the kind of weather that it is ideal for boots.  Here is my outfit for today.  The dress is from Ross.  The tights are from Charlotte Ruse and the shoes are Ralph Lauren (from DSW).
